Introduction: Organisation & funding

Organisation

Defra will host the Secretariat in the founding stages of the initiative. This will be reviewed in the longer term. The Secretariat will support the creation of new partnerships and projects by matching skills and interests.

A steering group, made up of representatives from public sector, business and civil society, will be responsible for planning the work programme. Reports will be circulated to the stakeholder group and posted on the partnership website. Bureaucracy will be kept to a minimum.

Partnership fairs will be held on an annual basis to review past and planned projects, providing a forum for interested parties to meet together. All members will benefit from a web-based service designed to facilitate partner networking and giving essential information and advice on existing and new project opportunities.

Funding

PECE will explore all possible avenues for funding, including those available within the UK and the EU. Defra will support the process by part funding multi-stakeholder projects through its Environment for Europe Fund. Information and advice will also be provided on other possible funding sources.
